This little lady taught me to can when Lonnie and I were first married
This was the first thing we canned together!
2 cups of lime
2 gallons of water
7 lb. of cukes (cut in chunks)
A little bit of advice here. Use small cukes slightly bigger that your thumb.
Always start your pickles just as soon as you can after you get them.
Soak in this solution for 24 hours.
Soak in clear water for 3 hours.
Soak in below solution overnight:
2 qts. of white vinegar
9 cups of sugar (4 ½ lbs.)
2 tsp. whole cloves
1 Tbs. pickling salt
2 tsp. celery seed
2 Tbs. pickling spice
Boil for 35 minutes and seal in hot, sterilized jars.
Makes about 12 pints.
